Juana Vargas –

History and Achievements
- Juana is currently an assessor and teacher associated with Alianza Flamenca.
- She is also a member of the Syllabus Co-ordination Committee for Alianza Flamenca.
- She was a founder member, soloist
- and contributing choreographer with the Linda Vargas Flamenco Company since 1983.
- Juana has performed extensively with the Linda Vargas Company in productions Camino Flamenco, Somos Flamenco and Desert Flowers in Johannesburg (Theatre on the Square), Durban (The Playhouse, Kwasuka and Catalina Theatres), the Grahamstown Festival and Bloemfontein (State theatre).
- She has been invited as Guest Artist in Cape Town with the La Rosa Company in Alegria and Recitál Flamenco (Theatre on the Bay and Artscapes), in Harare at the International Arts Festival, by the Spanish Embassy and with the “Shall We Dance” Ballroom and Latin American shows.
- Juana was also invited as Guest Teacher for the National Alianza Flamenca Annual Conference in Johannesburg in 2004.
- Juana has made numerous sabbatical trips to Spain studying with the renowned profesores Manolo Marin, La Tati, Merches Esmeralda, Jose Antonio, Carmen Cortes, Jose Galvan, Javier Torre, Blanca Del Rey, Domingo and Imaculada Ortega and Carmela Greco.
- She also has a BA, HDE qualification and as a qualified ballet teacher, taught Cecchetti ballet for many years.
- Juana recently moved to Cape Town opening her studio at Reddam House, Constantia.
- Pasión Flamenca in 2008 sees the inauguration of the flamenco company, Flamenco Del Sur under Juana’s direction.
- She has been invited as Guest Artist in Cape Town with the La Rosa Company on two occasions in Alegria and Recitál Flamenco performing with Angel Rojas and Carlos Rodriguez; in Harare at the International Arts Festival; by the Spanish Embassy on a nation a wide tour and with the “Shall We Dance” Ballroom and Latin American shows.
- Juana was also invited as Guest Teacher for the National Alianza Flamenca Annual Conference in Johannesburg in 2004.

- She also has a BA, HDE qualification and trained in and taught the Cecchetti method of ballet for many years.
- Juana is based in Cape Town and offers classes from beginners (both children and Adults) through to open classes for more advanced dancers.
- Pasión Flamenca in 2008 sees the inauguration of the flamenco company, Flamenco Del Sur under Juana’s direction.
- In 2012, Flamenco Del Sur is proud to present, Familia Flamenca. This latest production includes the esteemed flamenco talent of Linda Vargas as guest artist along with Enrique Marin, and the up coming talent of Ramon Fernandez. The production will enjoy the talented Demi Fernandez on guitar once again.
